There are actually so many entries in the franchise now through spin-offs, quirky handheld versions and of course, re-releases, that the implied finality is actually moving back to the beginning of its life cycle, thereby completing its lifespan in a sort of infinite loop that makes the idea of it being “final” actually mean that it will continue forever. No, really, I saw Stephen Hawking give a talk on this. Either that or I was up late watching Donnie Darko again while running on very little sleep.
If all of that was a little confusing, just know that with Final Fantasy XIII-2, it won’t be the first time or the last time that the first time was the last time for your first time, at last. Most importantly, though, three words: Mog the Moogle. We all clear on that?
